Business Opportunities

OPPORTUNITIES TO ENGAGE BUSINESSES AND SUPPORT DESIGN ELEMENTS OF THE PROJECT

Opportunities for existing local businesses will be available throughout each of the three phases of this new port project.  Project phases are divided as follow: pre-construction, construction and operations.

The project will also provide qualified candidates with opportunities to engage in design and engineering elements of the project. We wish to ensure that the port and all elements of the port reflect the culture and art of Grand Bahama and the broader Bahamian community. Therefore, during the period of development and construction, we will also engage with local artists and artisans to provide services that will contribute to the look and feel of the port. This will include artwork, design of elements related to food and beverage operations, and various other elements that can be featured in the port. Please check out our Events section herein, where we will post meetings and additional information relating to these opportunities.

Pre-Construction

Business opportunities that will be available during the pre-construction phase of the project include, but are not limited to:

  • Architecture
  • Design
  • Engineering
  • Environmental Planning
  • Permitting
  • Landscaping

Construction

The construction period will require qualified businesses to fill roles in the areas listed below:

  • Plumbing
  • Road Works
  • Fencing
  • Additional Landscaping
  • Electrical Works
  • Roofing
  • Other Fields

Operations

In addition to the shopping that will be done by the passengers to the island, there will be shopping opportunities at the port

Retail

We will develop a robust retail operation that allows qualified Bahamian operators to create a balanced retail offering. This retail operation will provide a uniquely Bahamian experience. Retail categories include, but are not limited to:

  • Duty Free

  • T-shirts and general souvenirs

  • Jewelry

  • Kiosks (scheduled to rotate position/location)

  • Bahamian Straw Market

  • Retail integrated within F&B

  • Artist Square linked with the Bahamian National Gallery (rotating artists)

All of these business opportunities will be available once construction is completed and the port is open.

Food & Beverage

  • The F&B operations will be provided by qualified vendors that will apply through an RFP process.
  • This operation will be geared to provide up to 1,400 meals within a 2-hour timeframe of 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM in a variety of restaurants and a diversity of menus and beverages carefully designed to be scattered throughout the property in order to avoid congestion in the area.
  • The port will not feature the traditional American-branded restaurants or shipboard branded restaurants
  • They will all be unique or existing Bahamian food brands. Unique branding and general menu items will be created in consultation with Carnival Cruise Line.
  • There will be larger facilities to accommodate larger numbers of people, but there will also be smaller features, such as conch bars and other such facilities.
  • We expect to have a variety of operators that will provide varying experiences therefore not repeating the same type of offerings significantly throughout the port.
